Bricks, cement and sand for walls

Net wall area
A = (Length × Height − Openings) × No. of such walls
= (0 × 0 − 0) × 1
= 0 m²
Use the count when several walls share the same length, height and thickness — two faces of one room, four walls of a bedroom, and so on.
Wall volume
V = Net area × Thickness
= 0 × 0
= 0 m³
Brick count
Bricks = V × 500 per m³
= 0 × 500
= 0 nos
500 comes from 1 m³ ÷ (0.20 × 0.10 × 0.10 m brick-with-mortar).
Mortar volume
Mortar = 25% of wall volume
= 0 × 0.25
= 0 m³ wet (0 m³ dry)
Cement in the mortar (1:6)
Cement = Mortar × 1/7 ÷ 0.035 m³ per bag
= 0 × 1/7 = 0 ÷ 0.035
= 0 bags
Sand in the mortar
Sand = Mortar × 6/7
= 0 × 6/7
= 0 m³
Breakage allowance
Order = Bricks × 1.05
= 0 × 1.05
= 0 bricks
Method used: Volumetric take-off with mortar allowance — IS 1077 brick sizes, IS 2212 masonry practice
Wall volume is length × height × thickness. A standard 190×90×90 mm brick with 10 mm mortar occupies 200×100×100 mm, so 1 m³ holds 500 bricks. Mortar fills roughly 25% of the wall volume; that mortar is then split by the 1:6 ratio into cement and sand after applying the 1.33 dry factor.
